Description

We offer you a private tour of Bowl of Fire, a secluded area within Lake Mead National Recreation Area. There’s a 4 hiker max per tour and only one group per tour so you will have this beautiful, rugged area of the Mojave Desert all to yourself.  We will move at your pace and explore the areas that capture your interest. You may want to take extra time for photography, yoga, meditation or more.

While in Vegas, you are probably constantly in shoulder to shoulder crowds. The same goes for the two popular hiking spots, Red Rock Canyon and Valley of Fire. They are both beautiful and they are both visited by a steady stream of traffic year round. You’ll be going to an area tucked away and inaccessible enough that we very rarely see another hiker. That means exploring the Mojave Desert in solitude, at your pace and your direction.

Come spend a little time away from the crowds experiencing the desert like it was meant to be. Let’s get ready to ramble!

This tour is all about you and adapted to your particular expectations and skill level so an exact itinerary will vary but generally this is what you can expect:

  • On the day of the hike you will be picked up at your hotel (or wherever you are staying) at 9:00am and driven to the hiking site, Bowl of Fire.
  • The trip to Bowl of Fire will include a drive through Lake Mead National Recreation Area. You’ll get a look at the largest man-made reservoir in the United States as well as some of its unique geology.
  • Depending on the pick up location, the drive will take approximately one hour.
  • On arrival at the hiking site, you will be outfitted with a backpack, water, snack and a hiking pole if desired.
  • The hike begins with a ¾ mile hike up to Bowl of Fire. Most of which will be in a red sand, dry creek bed in a broad, rocky canyon. The overall elevation gain through this section is about 350’. Note that this section is where we regularly see desert bighorn sheep.
  • This is your private hike so don’t ever hesitate to stop for a drink, rest or photograph.
  • Once in the bowl there will be multiple options. You can stay on pretty much level ground and take in the sites. You can hike up into the sandstone looking for your own routes or do some scrambling. You can find a spot for meditation, yoga or search for the perfect photo op to remember this dramatic landscape.
  • The actual hike time will vary depending on what you want to do but the average is about 2.5 hours.
  • Once done, we will head back the way we came and get you back to your hotel.
We look forward to helping you enjoy this beautifully rugged, awe-inspiring piece of the Mojave Desert!
