Jack & Terry Mannion Middle School Reviews

This is school is okay. 6th grade is the easiest and 7th and 8th are very hard. :> But the teachers are okay, some are mean, and some are just okay.

Mannion is an okay school .I agree with most of these comments!! The children should be in the classroom not up front doing the teachers job and pay more attention to the students. I'm taking my daughter out also! Go online there is free public school online here in NV. That's what I'm trying! Better Education for our children.

The teachers are okay but I feel like the work is elementary and they give A's away for parent signature's. I haven't seen my daughter have any projects. There is no supervision. I pop in and find my daughter in the rest room goofing off or I wait for her at lunch but she's in an unsupervised computer room with some boy. The office is horrible. Staff is rude and most of the time you have to deal with a student 'working' the front desk. You try to get a 7th grader to pay attention when she's yacking to her friend. After I got to an adult to ask if I could come down to check on my daughter I had to go through 3 people including a dean til they would approve it. I would never leave my hormone filled 6th grader here. Needless to say she is homeschooled now.

The Deans and administration of Mannion MS consistently fail to address issues of bullying and harrassment in their school. This lack of discipline does not facilitate education; students should be free to learn without fear in their school environment. This school does not provide the educational environment every child should have the privilege of

Mannion is a good school that can either propel your child to do better, or at worst maintain the status quo. Certain teachers are knowledgeable and competent in their subject areas (Teachers of the Year), while others are less concerned with their students and more aware of when the last bell rings to go home. Ask other parents and students which teachers are the best (NOT necessarily the easiest) and your experience here will be more fruitful! The Principal, Dr. Erbach, does his best to create an environment that puts students first, yet the inconsistency of some teachers and the frequent rotation/transfers that occur in the Dean's office has lead to a largely unenforceable discipline policy. All of this to say that I would enroll my own kids at this school. I would just make certain that they were placed in the classes of the best teachers.

Overall, Mannion is okay; though, I really, really didn't like it. However, that was primarily because of the students, not the staff. This school has some wonderful staff, such as Mr. McMurray :), Ms. Siewert, and Mr. Riley. It also has some terrible staff. The orchestra teacher, Mr. Riley, is wonderful. I don't know about art or sports. I saw little parent involvment except on field trips.

Have had one child at this school, currently have a 7th grader here and this Fall a 6th grader. The school is currently overcrowded because the of closure of Burkholder MS. which will be reopening in the Fall 07. This will result in a smaller school population as well as eliminating the need to share lockers. Considering that they had to accommodate an entire other school, they have handled it well. My kids are and have been happy here and we look forward to the smaller population this Fall.

This school is in need of improvement! They need better supervision for the children. They also need more locker space for P.E. so the children are not having to share lockers. Sharing lockers created some concerns with missing items and bullying. Some of the problems with the bullying have not been handled accordingly. There are a few members of the staff (not teachers), who are very unprofessional. So far the majority of teachers as well as the principal have been very fair, and kind. Mannion just needs to work out some kinks and make some changes that will address some of the loop holes on their campus.

So far I am very impressed with this school. My kids have no complaints. They have a lot of clubs to offer after school. They seem very organized for being a newly opened school.
