Lorna J Kesterson Elementary School Reviews

Kesterson ES is a great School, the prinicpal and teachers are very caring and committed to the children. My son originally was a zone variance student at this shcool and he loved it so much we moved into the school zone to ensure his continued attendance there. The PTA also deserves many many thanks for all of their time and care. The many family functions they put together each school year are amazing!

My twins have gone there since 1st grade, now in 5th. It's a great school!

Kesterson is a great school. We moved to Henderson from the MS Gulf Coast after Hurricane Katrina. I was amazed at how the school had a counselor observe my daughter's school day, from the classroom to the playground to make sure she was adapting to the change and making friends. I recommend Kesterson to everyone I know!

I am very happy with this school! We have a dedicated principal that has improved the school. We are doing a lot better in parent involvement! The teacher's are great! My child and I feel safe at this school. I would highly recommend this school to everyone! I made a move to this area for this school and it was the best choice I've made since I moved here! Great school!

I have 3 children that go to this school, and I will say after half the year, I am very pleased with the parent-teacher interaction. The kids love it, and I am glad that we moved into this school district!

My children have gone to Kesterson for 5 years now and they have flourished. We have always had caring teachers that are pleasant and responsive. As my oldest entered the 4th grade, I was disheartened by the large class size, but I believe you will have that at any public school. I have no regrets about my children being in this school. I also agree with the someone previously that enjoys the events they have throughout the year for families. I wish I could attend PTA meetings, but my schedule does not permit. I do volunteer in my child's classroom when I can though. I also agree that a huge factor in any school is the involvement of the parent. Disciplines, etc should not be left solely to the school.

I have nothing but positive things to say about the teachers and staff at this school. Everyone that I have had personal dealings with is caring and compassionate about the students. What I find appalling is the total lack of parent participation at the school. There is a pathetic sense of apathy from the parents. I have been a school volunteer for the past 5 years. Because of a recent event in our community - our PTA finally had 7 parents show up for the meeting, previously, maybe 1 parent would show up.

Although I consider this a good school, academically, I strongly question it's practices and procedures in handling discipline on all levels.

I do not feel that this school cares about my childs education. My child has a learining disability. It took them almost forever to test him. When they finally tested him, They tried to talk us out of retaining him in the first grade. The principle was never around. We never met him eventhough we made appointments to see him. He just gave us the run around. I am glad I took my child out of there. He is now reading two months after leaving that place.

This school refuses to acknowledge that our child, saldy as it may be, is a habitual disciplinary child just to better their outlook as compared to other schools. I have worked with the school only have them do nothing with regard to our childs behavior. I have repeatedly heard that this behavior is normal and it will probably go away next year. 3 years later and it is still the same. Ok they have placed him 'on the wall' during recess only to later see he hasn't been at the wall, but was playing around with the other children. To this they could only admit that the children are not properly being supervised during recess, otherwise they would be able to keep the children 'on the wall' where they are supposed to be. I could go on with more troubling information, but am limited to only 150 words here.

The teachers and staff at this school are great! They care and they are very friendly and helpful. I love all the extra activities they hold for the children and their families throughout the year. Its great they take an active role in the students, families and the community! I love being a parent volunteer also!
