Sue Morrow Elementary School Reviews

The principal should be in an older child setting, this man does not care about our children, he only cares about making the school look brand new with money that should be spent on our children and test scores

The administrative staff is mostly concerned about their image as a whole, not how to solve problems. The school counselor is unattainable. The higher level administration do not listen. The teachers seem put out and miffed at the higher level administrators. There are only a few school functions to involve parents and students in comparison to other Clark County schools. The constant barrage of outside events and fund raisers do not invlove the children and are always last minute.

I have been very pleased with the teachers my daughter has had at this school this year and last year. I think they have been exceptional and caring. They communicate well with me and are always helpful when I have questions.

Principal Rodriguez does not help at a child's advancement and development.

I love this school! Administration, teachers, and support staff are dedicated to the children and their education. There is a positive atmosphere and parents are always welcomed.

Morrow Elementary has great teachers, but at the beginning of 2005 they had to replace 12 teachers. When the school year started, my child's class started with a substitute for the first three weeks, because they did not have enough teachers to fill all the vacancies. As the year goes on, I am not very pleased with the education my child is receiving. I feel that money is being wasted on things that are not needed. More murals and plans for a greenhouse are not my idea of obtaining the best education for my child. Office staff are also not very friendly to parents when you speak with them on the phone or face-to-face.

I did not care for the school. the teachers are understaffed and have little or no help from the county.

My children previously attended morrow and I thought they where doing fine until we moved out of neveda. There 1st year out here was very hard. They went from being straight a students to being B - C students even 3 F's in one marking period I know part of that was the adjustment period but not all. With all the changes that continually go on it makes it hard to teach children year to year. I know the schools try very hard to keep up with the growth but they need to do more not just morrow but all of clark county. I have nothing against the staff at morrow they were awesome considering the constant change.

I'm not impressed with the 'keep up with the Joneses' attitude of the principal. Murals are being painted in the halls that I understand cost more than $3000 each. These murals are pretty but it takes away room on the walls for our kids to present their creations. Kids like to share their work with the rest of the school, if we cover the walls with murals are they going to be allowed to cover them with their work? We have also had to replace 15 or so teachers this year, why? Parents are encouraged to participate in the school with words but with actions are pushed out the door. The teachers want the help but the administration makes it almost impossible to participate. One person, whose kids have completed the 5th grade, wanted to continue to help at the school but was told she was not welcome by the administration.

I pulled my childern two years ago. I found that the present principle was more focused on the scores he could get and not on the way teachers dealt with the children. I had one of my two children bullied by his 1st and then 3rd grade teachers. With no help from the principle. The parents wanted to be involved but were not accepted if they put their two cents in about what the saw or would like to change. Also the school is very overcrowed with no end in sight with the continual growth around the school. No other schools are being built at the present time.

My concern is why are all our good teachers leaving? My daughter has had two outstanding teachers but like many others have taken jobs elsewhere. I am concerned about the education our children will be recieving if teachers are unhappy. They have a difficult job as it is. It is a shame that our school has taken this turn. Four years ago, I was so happy with the level of dedication from teachers. Our children deserve the highest quality education and we need to find out what the problem is and fix it before we lose even more teachers.

I am not sure if test scores alone can accurately represent a child's academic experience, but as the parent of a second grader, I have been happy with the education my child has recieved at Sue Morrow. The school does a great job of letting parents know what is going on and my contacts with various administrators has always been welcoming. My daughter has loved her past two teachers and has progressed well, both socially and academically. She loves going to school and has made some really great friends. I'm not sure what else a parent can ask for, maybe just a bigger parking lot.
