Lake Mead Christian Academy Reviews

Our 5th grader is new to LMCA (from public school) and has literally gone from daily frustration to an enriching and supportive environment. It has been amazing to see the grades improve. The 5th grade teachers and coaches (soccer) are very professional and just awesome. They promote Christian values at its' best.

I was at this school for 8 years and I loved it!!! I have nothing but good memories of LMCA. If I could do it all over again I wouldn't change a thing. I wish I still lived in Henderson that way I could send all 3 of my kids there. It's the best school a kid could go to, ever!! It's fun, it has the best teachers (which by the way genuinely do care about the students) and an awesome curriculum with God as the main focus. Go LMCA!!

Our school is a light in the community. We go out in the city to teach our students how to serve. We are a huge family that believes in community!!!

What's not to love? Small class sizes; teachers that make an investment in their students; a wonderful and growing athletics program; academic caliber that prepares students for college; and a continual emphasis on making an impact in the community. LMCA is one of those schools you graduate from, and then either go back to serve on staff or send your children there because you have to a part of this incredible ministry. LMCA will have an impact for many generations to come!

I love this school. As a former student I feel I received more individual attention and help with my academics than I would have at another institution. Now as a parent I totally have peace that my children are cared for and loved while I'm at work. The early education teachers are the BEST!

It comes as no surprise that LMCA has made high honors in the parents choice and business week. This school is incredible it offers so much that you would not get in your local schools. The love and attention that the kids get cannot be beat! They have great electives and fabulous teachers. Ok they do not stop at the ordinary they even offer a homemade lunch that deserves a 5 star! I took my daughter out of the school for 1/2 year and I truly missed it. If you want great friendships for your child and your family and a loving, learning environment than LMCA is the spot for you!

LMCA is a school like no other I have seen. This school has a love for not only my children but for the families and community in our area. They are dedicated to reaching out to those in need. This school has an awesome testimony. I am so thankful for LMCA.

Lake Mead is one of the best schools in the Las Vegas Valley. They have an incredible staff that truly love the kids. I thank God that he brought our family to this school.

Our family is very pleased with this school. My daughter had an amazing experience in the full day kindergarten. This is her 2nd year at LMCA and she's receiving good academic instruction along with technology, art and music in addition to biblical instruction. The staff is wonderful. My son is also there in the preschool and I disagree with the earlier review that there is no curriculum, my son is getting instruction, he comes home everyday with the work he's done and I'm already seeing the difference in him from his other preschool. We are very happy with this school and the education and values provided.

We have been involved at LMCA for 9 years. It exists to promote a biblically based, Christ like character in its students and has an outstanding missions emphasis. Students as young as 7th grade may take part in foreign short term missions trips. My children have also been challenged academically by the high standard of performance that is expected and they have always risen to the challenge! It is awesome for me to see my 8th grader taking total responsiblity for her homework assignments as well as taking part in extra curricular activities. The school is progressive in that, it evaluates the curriculum and updates as needed in order to help equip students who must live in the 21st century. They have a technology program where students as young as 7th grade have their own Mac laptops and elementary students have a computer class.

School has some good attributes, but teachers are hardly qualified & science curriculum is a joke. No honors classes are available. If you have a high maintenance child, this could be the place for them. Overly religious fundamentalism crosses the line into families' personal lives.

This is just an awesome school! Not only does my child grow in his education, but in his spiritual walk as well! He is now in 7th grade and has spectacular SAT scores. His walk with God grows not only at home, but stroger by bering around the spiritual staff. Thank you LMCA!!!!!!

LMCA is more than a school it is a community. It is committed to partner with parents not only to encourage children to grow academically but also spiritually and in character to prepare them for life outside of a classroom. The school has brought so much to my family. I have a LMCA graduate now in college and one soon to graduate serving this summer in the Amazon Jungle. They were trained for both at LMCA.encouraged for both at LMCA. It ministered to my entire family during the time of illness and a death in the family far beyond expectation. It has what has kept us in the area for the last six years. I'd encourage anybody looking more than a school, but an extended family, to consider Lake Mead Christian Academy.

My 4 year old is in the pre-K class and I was skeptical at first, but I must say I am very impressed. At 4 she's able to read many simple words and write simple words in cursive as well! I am very happy with this progress because my other older daughter went to Sewell and was lucky to write in cursive or read by 1st grade. Now she's going to Brown JHS and I'm looking to switch her to LMCA due to many problems there. For the parents that have reviewed LMCA negatively here, I must say compared to the alternatives in this area, LMCA is great and we're lucky to have it here!

LMCA likes to pride themselves on academics, but their true focus is on ministry. Several times school communication has included typographical and grammatical errors. Their ratios are similar to nearby public schools. Their early education department is more like a daycare with minimal curriculum added. The communication with parents is minimal at best. Teachers have come and gone throughout the year and not once was communication given to parents. Not even an introduction of the new staff to parents. Of the teachers that have been stable all of them appear truely invested and loving with the students.

I have been a parent at LMCA for 10 years now and fell that over the past 2 years the school has grown too much. I used to feel as though Bible and education came forst and they would go above and beyond to help them succeed. Now, money has become their priority. Their enrollment is too high, tuition continues to rise, additional 'donations' are mandatory, teachers are stretched too far. My daughter is not doing well in this school due to the fact that they are not strict enough (too easy going) and unlike public school, if they need any type of tutoring it is also an extra charge. Yes, they have a great Christian foundation.

I have read some of reviews and unfortunately there is some misinformation. We have students currently attending Norte Dame, Stanford, Wheaton, Biola, Westmont, Texas Tech, and various state universities.

Biblically based school which produces strong Christians. PSAT scores always high, but real SAT schools average to low. Academics average - don't expect to be able to enter any of the top colleges. Very safe environment. Far better than a public school, but not as good as other private schools. School is growing -- has good and bad challenges.

It's terrible; the Bible comes before any real education.

LMCA is an amazing school that I believe is teaching my kids authentic Christianity. Like any school, it has it's flaws but the overall program is exceptional. The academics are strong and have placed my children ahead of the average public school student by one to two years consistently according to the annual SAT scores. I love the ministry opportunities LMCA provides to the students of all grades. I don't think my student would ever have gotten a chance to travel overseas and serve people in third world countries at any other school. The greatest part is the impact foreign missions has had on my child. He not as concerned about himself and really wants to help other people now. That kind of education is priceless!

Lake Mead Christian Academy has teachers who are very caring yet they hold the students accountable for their actions. Two of my children have graduated from here and I have a child in the 11th grade. The two who have graduated say that when they have children they will attend LMCA.

I am the proud parent of two LMCA graduates who are both full-time college students. They are both actively involved in school-sponsored as well as community outreach as a result of lessons learned while at LMCA. I am also the proud parent of a senior at the school, who, too, is making college preparations. As a long-time member of the school ministry team, I have watched young people develop and excel academically and spiritually. It continues to be my joy to serve the school community in a variety of ways ranging from classroom teacher to assistant administrator to director of school operations for 13 years. Lake Mead Christian Academy is committed to providing an excellent elementary and secondary education which is distinctively Christian and biblically-based and that develops students of outstanding character who maintain a biblical worldview. Gotta love it!

This is a very biblical based program. The teachers are very well educated and have a love of what they do. Parental involvement in my sons class was great. They always had fun projects and creative learning programs going on in his K4 class.

My son attended LMCA from kindergarten through 5th grade, and another son attemded through 2nd grade, until we moved from the area. LMCA is academically aggressive and Biblically based. The teachers have high standards, as does the administration. Music, art, and sports are available as electives and are well run. The focus is on academics, and there is quite a bit of homework. My children scored exremely well on the yearly SAT tests compared to the national average (in the 70, 80 and some scores even in the 90th percentile). The teachers love Christ, and they pass that love along to their students. Parental involvement is required.
