BLT Burger: an eatery you can sink your teeth into
You’re in Las Vegas and want to eat at a restaurant that’s approachable yet innovative.
So where’s the beef?
It’s happily residing on a bun in the award-winning BLT Burger at the Mirage. The creation of acclaimed chef Laurent Tourondel, honored as Bon Appetit magazine’s 2007 Restaurateur of the Year, the restaurant offers a variety of burgers including beef, American Kobe, lamb and Atlantic salmon. Each one comes on a soft bun with tomato, iceberg lettuce, red onion, pickles, ketchup, mustard and mayonnaise.
The beef patties are a combination of Certified Black Angus sirloin, short rib, chuck and brisket. Specialty burgers include the Tex-Mex, a seven-ounce beef burger with jalapeños, chili, avocado, salsa, jack cheese, onions and sour cream; Lamb Tandoori Burger, a slightly spicy Colorado lamb burger topped with mint-cilantro yogurt sauce, cucumber, olives, red onion and tomato; and a signature Meatball Burger composed of ground veal, pork and ricotta and served with garlic pomodoro sauce.
Of course, it wouldn’t be Las Vegas without a burger called The Stripper, a seven-ounce beef burger served with lettuce, tomato, onion and bell pepper — without the bun.
BLT Burger boasts a limited kids' menu (includes French fries and a soft drink), with corndog and grilled cheese meals (both $8) or a chicken fingers meal ($9). A milkshake runs $3 more.
BLT Burger’s diverse menu also offers a number of appetizers, salads, more than eight types of fries and rings — including waffle-cut, sweet potato, jalapeño poppers and fried pickles — and desserts. Additionally, there's a wide array of beverage options, including creative cocktails (a la The Showgirl), an ample beer list and a focused wine selection.
The milkshakes, however, are to die for. Inspired by classic American desserts, there are such luscious blends as the Puddin’ Pop, a rich slush of chocolate ice cream, chocolate pudding and chocolate shavings; Give Me S’More, which combines chocolate ice cream with toasted marshmallows and graham crackers, and Twinkie Boy, which mixes vanilla ice cream, a Hostess™ Twinkie and caramel syrup.
And, yes, adults can order a Spiked Milkshake, such as The All Nighter (Kahlua, Baileys, espresso and coffee ice cream), The Highlander (Guinness Stout, Coole Swan Irish Crème and vanilla ice cream) and Malibu Barbie (Malibu Rum, pineapple juice, coconut milk and vanilla ice cream).
If your sweet tooth still isn’t satisfied, you can try one of the desserts. Where else can you find “Krispy Kreme” Doughnut Bread Pudding with rum-raisin coconut sauce or a French twist on an ice cream sandwich that consists of a Dutch chocolate macaroon and hazelnut ice cream? There are two different kinds of sundaes as well, Strawberry Cheesecake or Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough.
It’s a true “meat” and greet, Las Vegas style.
