T&T at the Luxor is a burst of Mexican culture
If a fiesta is more your style than a siesta, head on over to T&T (Tacos and Tequila), where a high-energy atmosphere and true Mexicana style are shaking things up nightly at the Luxor. Blending modern and traditional Mexican cuisine with a true south-of-the-border ambiance and a rock ‘n’ roll flair, the highly stylized 8,000-square-foot restaurant and bar from Drive This! Entertainment shouts “Ole!” from beginning to end.
With a design concept inspired by five icons of Mexican culture -- the sombrero, the shot glass, the bullfight, skeletons, and seductive women -- the venue is adorned throughout by a bright color palette of yellows, reds, greens and oranges on chair coverings and countertops and in the decorative lighting. A massive brushed aluminum sombrero creates an awning for guests to sit under. Scattered all over the huge hat are laser cutouts depicting skeletons dancing and drinking tequila and the sombrero is backlit to project the skeletons on the floor.
“T&T offers guests a fun, high-energy vibe and blends the atmosphere of a local cantina with modern design based on traditional elements of Mexican culture,” says Michael Frey, partner of Drive This! Entertainment. “The result is a dynamic setting unlike any other on the Strip.”
Though Chef Richard Sandoval has created the menu for T&T that features distinctive presentations of modern and traditional Mexican cuisine, it is Executive Chef Saul Ortiz who carries it out. It begins with small plates that include items such as adobo shrimp, marinated beef or vegetarian quesadillas and crab, and chicken or tuna tostadas.
Entrées include cheese, beef or chicken enchiladas, beef or chicken burritos, carne asada, and tacos with a variety of fillings to choose from. Combo platters include pork carnitas, chicken tamal and cheese enchilada or chicken tamal, shaved taco and beef enchilada, both with sides of refried beans and rice.
T&T also has a Sunday brunch that offers Mexican fare, drink specials, and Mariachi music.
In addition, T&T offers a ceviche flight, which is one shot of tuna, mahi mahi and shrimp ceviche paired with a complementing flight of tequila. Known for its inventive drinks, T&T offers an array of hand-crafted margaritas, an extensive list of tequila selections, specialty cocktails and infused tequilas.
That brings all to the bar area of which the highlight is a 25-by-25 mural illustrating the excitement and voracity of a bullfight. The artwork also depicts the sensuality of its main subject – a female matador. There are also three murals of a similar nature on the walls of the restaurant’s lounge area. They also offer provocative images of female matador and bull.
