An interactive learning experience that teaches people to be hands-on at home where the spa massage experience, is concerned has been introduced by the Ritz-Carlton Lake Las Vegas Spa. The exclusive mentoring initiative in interactive spa-going heralds an emerging trend spearheaded by the lakeside venue.

The 30,000-square-foot spa located 17 miles southeast of the Las Vegas Strip is offering Massage Mentoring for Couples, a 60-miniute session under the instruction of one of The Ritz-Carlton skilled massage therapists during which partners learn how to give each other a massage for relaxation and to relieve muscle tension.

Couples meet with the therapist to discuss the benefits of massage and then watch and learn massage techniques. At the end of the hour, the therapist reviews the session and guests can take notes. They receive a certificate of participation, a detailed instruction guide, and an aromatherapy kit containing bath oil, a candle, and body oil to take home with them. The therapist arranges a follow-up call for one week later to answer any questions. The session is $225 per couple.

In addition, the spa is also doing Skin and Make-up Mentoring. Having developed this session to explain the benefits of peptides, hydroxy acids, anti-aging treatments and peels, the experience involves assessing their value for each guest’s own skin care routine and skin type It also addresses various skin conditions and guests’ questions about new products and ingredients for sun damage, anti-aging and challenges such as rosacea and over-sensitive skin.

The latest make-up tips and techniques are also covered, with the spa’s professional makeup artists helping to make cosmetic color selection and application as easy, affordable and effective as possible. Guests take home with them recommendations for their individual complexion routine and make-up regimen along with instructions for application. They are also given a gift of two complimentary make-up items. The 90-minute session is priced at $225.

There is also a session for younger guests called Teen Skin and Make-Up Mentoring. It educates girls about preventing sun damage, avoiding premature aging, and the benefits of mineral makeup. Each teen’s skin is analyzed and tips on colors and techniques that will complement her individual complexion and eye color are given. They also learn how to change from a day to an evening look.

Guests practice with the mentor as she guides them through the right products to use and self-application techniques.  At the end of the session, they take home recommendations for a new skin care routine and make-up looks along with application instructions and two complimentary cosmetic items. A parent must accompany guests under 18 years of age. The 90-minute session is $225.
