Adventuredome takes you for a wild ride
The Adventuredome at Circus Circus has a motto: "Act your age — somewhere else!"
It's good advice for this Grand Canyon-styled theme park, which brings out the inner child in people of all ages. Built at a cost of $90 million The Adventuredome offers 22 attractions — including 18 rides — under its glass-domed five acres. The dome is 200 feet high and fully enclosed by 8,615 panes of glass, each weighing over 300 pounds.
The Adventuredome opened in 1993 with only four rides, but today, it proclaims itself America's largest indoor theme park. It features the world’s only indoor, double-loop, double-corkscrew roller coaster, the Canyon Blaster, which reaches a top speed of 55 miles per hour. But the thrills don't stop there!
Other top attractions include the Rim Runner boat ride, highlighted by a 60-foot water plunge. Another, Chaos, is a spinning thrill ride that has 18 simultaneously loading two-passenger seats and whirls riders in all directions. Chaos' speed and intensity of movement provide a totally unpredictable ride every time.
The Inverter is an attraction that will literally turn riders’ lives upside down! Team laser tag enthusiasts will enjoy Laser Blast, while the Xtreme Zone welcomes enthusiasts of all ages to climb and bounce off walls into the air on a bungee trampoline.
Those looking to experience the latest in motion simulator technology will want to follow Sponge Bob Square Pants as he searches for the pickle he lost while making a Krabby Patty. The 4-D experience takes movie viewers on a real up-down, side-to-side, shakingly tumultuous trip as Sponge Bob finds himself “in a pickle” trying to get his back.
Simpler pleasures are offered by Pike’s Pass, the 18-hole miniature golf course. The theme park also has bumper cars, carnival-style games, arcade games, clown shows and a snack bar.
The Adventuredome has three rides suitable for younger kids at least 33 inches tall: the carousel, the Ferris wheel and the School Bus Ride. (Parents can accompany their children.)
The Adventuredome is open 365 days a year, and the temperature is kept at a constant 72 degrees. Rides are all based on height requirements, which vary from ride to ride.
A Junior Pass lets children four feet tall or shorter ride all day for $14.95; taller patrons pay $24.95 for an all-day pass. Another option is to pay per ride; prices are available here.
Discounts are available for school parties and groups of 15 or more, including company picnics and corporate events. The Adventuredome can even cater the latter.
The Adventuredome can also put on a party — whether a child's birthday party or a corporate bash — to accommodate from 15 to 5,000 guests. You can even book online or by calling (702) 794-3905 or (866) 456-8894.
