Peepshow: a fairy-tale glimpse into world of burlesque

Peepshow at Planet Hollywood is a naughty twist on some popular fairy tales. It should come as no surprise to anyone that in this Las Vegas version, the only thing Bo Peep will lose is her sheepishness.      

In this collaboration between Tony Award-winning director/choreographer Jerry Mitchell and BASE Entertainment, Bo Peep is taken on a journey by Peep Diva, who transforms her into a confident, sensual woman. Along the way, the modern-day burlesque romp doesn’t try to pull the wool over anyone’s eyes.      

“This may be the first time that a production of this nature actually has a storyline that depicts the empowerment of women,” says Mitchell. “Told through dance and contemporary music, it is a sexy, inviting show that takes you on a journey and introduces you to beautiful women who are not covered up with a lot of extra face and body makeup and wigs.... I want you to see that beautiful woman – that’s what this show’s about."

As the show begins, a lonely Bo is seen in a short black-and-white film reading a book of rhymes and fairy tales. Bo falls asleep and soon finds herself in the colorful world of Peepshow. There she meets the Peep Diva, whose powerhouse voice carries a score of popular musical numbers and fuels several high-end productions.

Bo's adventure also brings her into contact with the likes of Little Red Riding Hood, Goldilocks, the Girl with the Wicked Curl, Cranberry Cross, Mrs. Pumpkin-eater and others. Through them, Bo experiences awakening and self-discovery, becoming the woman she’s always wanted to be to find love in her life.      

With a plan to feature celebrities that will play multiple-month engagements (the show opened with Spice Girl  Mel B. in the role of Peep Diva and "General Hospital's" Kelly Monaco in the role of Bo Peep, both now gone), Peepshow should be one Baaaaaaaaaaad show – and that’s good.
